The kindly Rev. overheard "Bokonon"
saying on Mon 27 Aug 2007 02:23:49p:
>> "Marriage is a civil contract between a male and a female who
>> have each attained the age of eighteen years, and who are
>> otherwise capable."

Hey! Bokonon actually has something to say about it.
Mind you, he's only calling it a name, but I suppose we should be
thankful for small favors.
Now tell us, Bokonon, about how encouraging people to marry without
licenses isn't (unless the proper warnings are given) encouraging
people to think they're in an illegal contract?
Btw, "illegal" in this sense is a term of art. You didn't catch that
the first time. It means the contract is not enforceable, and,
depending on the jurisdiction and the circumstances, encouraging
people to do that is a tort.
And tell us again all about how what the legislature does doesn't
affect ministers AT ALL.
