Most Berliners would have been pleased to deal with Murkens even in
early 1945. By that time, Berlin was mostly rubble. But Murkens
mostly weren't there during that period. Nor is it reasonable to
presume that not having been there precisely How they would have
applauded anyone in a Murken uniform.
Clearly after May 1945, however, they did do so quite widely. We were
the best game in town.
